Pages are public and can be found through Facebook\u2019s search features.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To remove the page from being accessed, you must unpublish the page.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alternatively, you can ban users from liking, posting and commenting on the page.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This article covers how to ban individual Facebook users from interacting with your business page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Does_Banning_People_Mean_On_Facebook\"><\/span>What Does Banning People Mean On Facebook?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Banning is very different to blocking a person on Facebook. The individual can still interact with the page and your account in several ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When you ban people from your business page, they can no longer:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>publish to your page (if you\u2019ve left that option open)<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>like the page<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>like posts on the page<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>comment on posts on the page<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>message the page<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The banned person can still view your business page and share content from the page. They can also send messages to your personal profile if you haven\u2019t blocked them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Banned users may also see details about business events through viewing the timeline of whoever is hosting the event. Facebook keeps your personal profile and your business pages very separate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rest of this article covers four different methods to ban people from your business page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Method_1_Ban_People_Using_%E2%80%9CPeople_and_other_Pages%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>Method 1: Ban People Using \u201cPeople and other Pages\u201d<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the detailed steps with illustrated pictures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 1: Open your business page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 2: The left pane in your browser is titled \u201cManage Page\u201d. Scroll down to click the Settings link at the bottom of the pane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"274\" height=\"312\" src=\"https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/page_settings.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/page_settings.jpg 274w, https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/page_settings-263x300.jpg 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 274px) 100vw, 274px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The left pane is now titled Page Settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 3: Click on the \u201cPeople and other Pages\u201d link which is down toward the middle of the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 4: Expand the dropdown menu under \u201cPeople who like this Page\u201d and choose \u201cBanned people and Pages\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"245\" height=\"223\" src=\"https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/people_and_other_pages_banned_people.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-336\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 5: When you click the link, you can now enter a name or email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you start typing name, Facebook will give you a list of ten possible users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Problems with preemptive bans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>How does <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Facebook <\/a>choose which of the thousands of \u201cJohn Smiths\u201d to show you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve done some experimenting and the list of ten seems to be drawn from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>people who interacted with the page<\/li><li>friends of your personal profile<\/li><li>people in your geographical location<\/li><li>friends of your friends<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This means that it will be difficult to create a new business page and preemptively ban a Facebook user that you think will cause trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That user will have to be in the orbit of your personal profile in some way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can see this as Facebook protecting you from yourself! The person you are worrying about may not care a jot about your business page and interacting with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the moment that this person comments on your page, you will probably see them turn up in the list of ten. If you don\u2019t, you can use the next method to get straight to ban hammer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Method_2_Ban_People_Who_Commented_On_Your_Page\"><\/span>Method 2: Ban People Who Commented On Your Page<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If the person you want to ban has commented&nbsp; on your business page, you can ban them via the comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Hover over the comment<\/li><li>Click on the ellipsis icon that appears to the right of the comment (the three dots)<\/li><li>Click on \u201cHide or embed this\u201d<\/li><li>Select \u201cHide comment\u201d from the dropdown list<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"365\" height=\"198\" src=\"https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ban_from_a_comment.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ban_from_a_comment.jpg 365w, https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ban_from_a_comment-300x163.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 365px) 100vw, 365px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The comment has now changed status to being only seen by the person who made it and their friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From here, you see a link to ban the person who made the comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The picture below shows the new link to ban the commenter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"441\" height=\"155\" src=\"https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ban_a_person_from_a_comment.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ban_a_person_from_a_comment.jpg 441w, https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ban_a_person_from_a_comment-300x105.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 441px) 100vw, 441px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s important at this point not to use the Delete link to remove the comment. If you do, you won\u2019t have the option to ban the user!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, you need to take the next steps in the correct order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do you want to ghost the user instead of banning them?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Think about your options before you take the next step of banning the user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The individual can probably figure out that they\u2019ve been banned from your page if you do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if you leave the comment in this status, the person may not be aware that you\u2019ve taken any action. They and their friends still see the comment on your business page but nobody else does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is known as \u201cghosting\u201d a user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If this isn\u2019t enough for you, then read on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Banning the person (and deleting the comment)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you click the link to ban the person, Facebook bans them from your business page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can then delete the comment entirely using the \u201cdelete\u201d link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Method_3_Ban_Someone_Who_Posted_On_Your_Business_Page\"><\/span>Method 3: Ban Someone Who Posted On Your Business Page<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you allow other people to post on your business page (I don\u2019t), then you may need to take defensive actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Click the ellipsis in the top right of the offending post.<\/li><li>Choose \u201cBan from page\u201d<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If this is a repeated problem, I suggest that you turn off the setting that allows all and sundry to add posts to your business page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Method_4_Ban_Someone_Who_Sent_A_Message_To_Your_Page\"><\/span>Method 4: Ban Someone Who Sent A Message To Your Page<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first challenge is to find the page\u2019s inbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I find the easiest way is to open the page \u201cInsights\u201d. There is a link to messages on the bottom of the left pane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Choose the offending message.<\/li><li>Click the ellipsis in the top right of the mssage<\/li><li>Choose \u201cBan from page\u201d<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Extra_Steps_To_Restrict_People_From_Seeing_Your_Business_Page\"><\/span>Extra Steps To Restrict People From Seeing Your Business Page<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even when you ban someone from your business page, you may see them liking events associated with the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How can that happen? Well, they may have spotted the events appearing on your personal timeline or posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the next steps to take after banning them on your business page.
