You can only block someone if they are on your Contacts list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have detailed instructions in the next section on how to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, anyone else who has your PayPal email address can still send you messages or request money. They can also send you requests if they have your PayPal.me link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you block some of your Contacts, they can sign up to PayPal using a different email address. This would allow them to keep sending you requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blocking someone from a Business account<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also block people in your contacts list with a Business account. You can choose to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Block payments in a currency you don&#8217;t hold<\/li><li>Block accidental payments (useful if you create duplicate invoices by mistake)<\/li><li>Block eCheck transfers (this does not work for eBay)<\/li><li>Block payments from the &#8220;pay anyone&#8221; subtab on PayPal Send Money tab<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Choosing who to request money from<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You also have the option to set up a list of up to twenty people for sending money requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cRequest\u201d tab gives you an input box to enter their phone number or email address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to block someone you\u2019ve added here, just delete them from the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Should you upgrade to a business account to get better blocking features?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are having a problem with repeated requests for money to your personal account, there isn\u2019t much advantage to upgrading to a business account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the option to block unwanted currencies may be useful. And if you have a problem with duplicating invoices, then a business account can solve this headache.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be aware that there may be higher requirements to verify your identity with a business account. You can check out our article on <a href=\"https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/why-does-paypal-need-my-ssn\/\">whether PayPal requires your SSN<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_To_Block_People_From_Using_Your_PayPalme_Link\"><\/span>How To Block People From Using Your PayPal.me Link<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can\u2019t pick and choose who you block from using your PayPal.me link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, you can turn the feature off entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Go to your account profile<\/li><li>Click the \u201cTurn off my link\u201d button<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Workarounds_To_Block_Someone_From_Sending_You_Money_Requests\"><\/span>Workarounds To Block Someone From Sending You Money Requests<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>PayPal customers get understandably annoyed when they receive requests for money from people they don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, PayPal doesn\u2019t provide a simple blocking feature. I\u2019ve looked at some suggested workarounds, and I\u2019ll give my recommendations here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our recommended workaround<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The simplest and safest solution is to switch the email address you use for your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.PayPal.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PayPal<\/a> account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can do this if you suspect that your email has landed on a spammer\u2019s list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A workaround we don\u2019t recommend<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The big limitation with PayPal\u2019s blocking solution is that the person has to be on your Contacts list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, some people recommend a way to get the sender into your list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They suggest that you send a tiny 0.01 cent payment to the requester\u2019s email list. That means that the email will now show up in your Contacts list. Then you can block them from there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We advise you not to do this. <\/strong>The scammers now know that they have your current PayPal email in their list. All they have to do is switch their own email address and send you more requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Workarounds_For_Your_Website\"><\/span>Workarounds For Your Website<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Is the problem coming from the PayPal widget on your website? The drastic solution is to remove the widget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, you do have other options. You can use software to block I.P addresses or entire countries from accessing your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re using WordPress, the free WordFence plugin will let you do this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have extensive instructions in our article on <a href=\"https:\/\/bandittracker.com\/how-to-block-an-ip-address-in-wordfence\">blocking IP addresses with Wordfence<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to block an entire country with this plugin, you\u2019ll need the premium option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are also ways to do this without a plugin. However, it requires some developer knowledge about using what\u2019s known as the .htaccess file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Should_You_Do_If_Someone_Sends_You_Unsolicited_Money\"><\/span>What Should You Do If Someone Sends You Unsolicited Money<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We should all have this problem, right? Well, no. This could be the start of a major problem if you choose to ignore it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You do not want to get caught up in a spammer\u2019s activity. And if PayPal believes that these transactions violate anti-money laundering laws, then your entire account could be suspended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend that you contact PayPal customer support. Log into your account and you\u2019ll find the support link in the footer of the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_To_Block_PayPal_On_eBay\"><\/span>How To Block PayPal On eBay<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The solution is to unlink your PayPal account on the eBay website.
